As a mainstream packaging container, corrugated carton coding has always been the focus of major users and manufacturing companies. For corrugated boxes, code coding design is the top priority. Many people think that the design of corrugated boxes is very simple, as long as it is guaranteed to hold the product and the strength and protective performance meet the requirements. This is a big truth that everyone understands, but when it is really implemented, those ubiquitous little details are enough to "defeat" these big truths.
The general principle in the code coding design of corrugated boxes can actually be summarized as one point, namely "protection requirements". Protection requirements mean that the design of the corrugated box must meet the protection functions of the content product. The various design requirements extended from this are to achieve this purpose. These design requirements are small details in the design of the corrugated box, among which the size design is the most important one.

Precautions for size design
Corrugated boxes usually have three characteristic size: outer size, manufacturing size, and inner size. When designing the size of corrugated boxes, there are two points worth noting.
First of all, after the corrugated board is folded 90 degrees, the position of the press line is different from the inward and outward offset of the size, not exactly half the thickness of the corrugated board.
Secondly, because there is a difference in the size between the inside and outside of corrugated cardboard, the expansion and contraction volume of the standard box (RSC) is different when converting the inside, outside and manufacturing size.
There are regulations on the extension of the size of the standard box, but the data is only used for reference. These size will vary depending on the material of the corrugated cardboard, whether the corrugated box is single-packed or double-packed, and the production process.
Factors influencing size design
The outer size, manufacturing size and inner size of the corrugated box are interrelated, and the size design affects the whole body. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the factors that influence size design.
1. Influence of content product placement on internal size design
The placement of content products has a great impact on the design of corrugated boxes, especially for some content products with small size. When designing the inner size of corrugated boxes, we must consider not only the impact of its placement method on the inner size, but also the impact of its placement quantity on the inner size.
Poor placement of content products will cause the corrugated box to be slender, thin or too square in the size. Moreover, the ratio of aspect to height of the inner size has a certain ratio range, and the strength of the designed corrugated box will be the highest only within a certain ratio range.
If there are too many content products, the size of the corrugated box will be too large, and the inner load will be too heavy, which will be unfavorable for handling. For example, the auto parts industry recommends that the carrying weight of containers should not exceed 15kg; if there are too few content products, the size of the corrugated box will be small, and the efficiency of manual operation will be reduced throughout the assembly and logistics process.
2. Influence of production process on manufacturing size design
Standard boxes are a relatively common corrugated box structure. The grooving of the rocker lid during the design process is also a relatively common simple process. However, during the design process, some corrugated boxes often appear due to improper design of the grooving opening. Quality problems.
3. Influence of circulation environment on external size design
The impact of the circulation environment on external size design mainly focuses on logistics equipment and their circulation methods. Nowadays, the entire industry's promotion of logistics is focused on standardization, which puts forward specified size requirements for logistics equipment. For example, the size of the logistics transfer pallet currently promoted in my country is 1200mm × 1000mm. In other words, during the size design process of corrugated boxes, it is necessary to meet the size requirements of logistics equipment as much as possible to improve the loading rate of corrugated boxes in the logistics process.
At the same time, it is also necessary to consider the carrying requirements of some logistics equipment, such as containers with approved load requirements, for some heavy goods, even if the container is empty (low loading rate), it cannot exceed the load requirements.
From a general point of view, the design of the size of corrugated boxes for coding is simple and not difficult, but in fact, it is necessary to systematically consider the influencing factors of the size design of corrugated boxes. It is necessary to consider not only the compatibility of these influencing factors, but also their repulsion. Only by properly handling these small details can the corrugated box be designed meet the requirements.
